We have several products set up - with different terms: Monthly w/30 trial, Annual w/30 day trial, Monthly no trial, Annual no trial. We want to prevent Free Trial 'abuse'. However, when we add under "Disallow Ordering...", any product - active or expired - that included a free trial, those conditions appear under the other Billing options for this product. We don't want the roadblocks for those who had a trial subscription in the past to sign up for a paid subscription. In these cases, someone may have 'paused' their subscription - or they are recaptures. We also don't want others to sign up for a trial, cancel, repeat - circumventing the subscription process. Should we be setting up the products differently. Is there another work-around? Would the 'Renewal Group' be something to utilize? If so, how?
Not sure if you've found a way to do this, but I'd be tempted to use two different products - one with the free trials and the other without, then restrict access to the free trials product in exactly the way you're doing... leaving only the paid membership option going forwards. However, you may find users registering multiple times with different email addresses to get the free access multiple times.
Yep, as halmaclean says, the solution is to use a copy of the product for the trial billing plans, and restrict that one.
